Who Makes the Best Boat Top?

Working in this industry I see a lot of sites and blogs that like to compare products and spotlight different products. While most are worth reading it is rare to find any comparisons on what allows us to stay on the water in the hot blistering sun - the bimini top. Without the bimini top keeping us out of the sun, our time on the water will be cut short due to blistering sun burns, dehydration, and perhaps death. OK maybe not death, at least not right away.

Boat builders they are the first to say they need to offer bimini tops with their boats, but they end up putting the cheapest thing on it they can find just to say they offer it. Not all of them do it but a significant amount do. Boat manufacturers pour money into research and development to offer new amenities and new ways to make their boat look good and be comfortable on the inside. Guess what? No one can see the inside of your boat from across the lake. What they can see is you put a shabby looking top that is worth about 150.00 on a 50,000.00 pontoon boat. If you are willing to do that most won't believe you are willing to put a lot of money anywhere else on your boat.

As a consumer you continue to scan the horizon looking for something better. Without a doubt the bimini top is the first thing most see out on the water on any given day. Poorly made bimini tops tend to lead people to believe the boat may not be all that well made either. A well built bimini top will compliment the boat which in turn will cause people to search you out on the water to compliment you, your boat, and your bimini top. They may even ask where you got it. Chances are you didn't buy it with the boat - chances are you bought it from us.

We take exceptional pride in our work, our workforce, and ulitmately our products. Regardless of whether it is our bimini tops, or our grill covers, we take the extra steps to ensure your satisfaction with your purchase. I wish I had a nickel for every time a customer has recommended us to a friend or family member. Even better I wish I had a dime for every recommended customer that has told me they saw our bimini top on a boat on the lake and asked that boat owner where they got such a great looking top. Then I tell them how reasonable the prices are -- mind blown. Yup add up all those dimes and nickles and I'd be writing this from a cabana in Key West.

Who makes the best bimini tops? We do. Come find out why.

Why buy a pontoon boat longer than 8' than?

It gets hot out there on the water. Sun beats down and you feel like you could melt. You want to be on the boat and take a bunch of friends but the same thing always happens on a day like this. Everyone uses about 8' of the boat - in the back under the bimini top. Change that. Invest in a double bimini top. How much is your comfort really worth, or that of your family and friends? Why buy a pontoon boat larger than 8' long if that is the only amount of space you will all occupy for the majority of time on the water? When you weigh the amount you paid for your big beautiful boat and compare it to the price of a double bimini...well lets face it, there is no comparison. Start getting your money's worth out of every foot of your boat. It doesn't matter the size of your pontoon, we have a way to keep more of it in the shade. Relax, keep cool, we've got you covered - Northstar Double Bimini Tops.

Keeping Water Off Your Boat Cover

Putting your cover on your boat can be one of the most painful things you do for your boat on a regular basis. The covers are bulky and hard to handle. You have to generally twist your body into a position it was not meant for in order to snap it. It can get pretty rough. Than you have to worry about it raining once you leave because no matter what you do it ALWAYS seems to hold water. It wouldn't be so bad to put it on if you knew when you came back you wouldn't have to bail water out of it in order to go through the process of uncovering it. Generally the main reason it holds water is the cover is too loose. You seem to have your adjustable poles extended as tightly as possible yet the cover still holds water. Chances are though, you don't have the poles extended as far as they could be. Try this...button your cover up and extend your poles as far as possible and tighten it up. Than without adjusting the pole disconnect it from your cover. Now adjust it up another 1-2". Reconnect it to your cover and push the bottom back into place so it is straight up and down. You will be surprised at how much tighter you will get your cover with those extra couple of inches and how much more water will be shed by doing so. Of course If your cover has been holding water in places for awhile you may find those areas are still sagging. Especially if the fabric is not the best quality. The only thing to really correct that will be to add another pole. There are a lot of products out there that will allow you to add another adjustable pole. The best I've found is a vent cap with a cam locking pole. Most websites that sell marine products will have them listed under accessories or full cover accessories. Invest a small amount of money to fix problems like that first instead of having an entire new cover custom made for your boat. It may come to having a new cover made but lets try the easy fix first. By the way, none of this will make actually putting the cover on any easier, but you will be able to rest easier knowing the cover shouldn't hold water anymore. Happy Boating!
